The partnership between the Devon & Cornwall Training Providers Network (DCTPN) and the Institut de Formation aux Métiers du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (IFMBTP) represents an important step in strengthening UK–Morocco collaboration in sustainable construction. Supported by the British Council through the Going Global Partnerships programme, the partnership brings together education providers and industry stakeholders to exchange expertise, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote innovation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

The collaboration focuses on preparing learners for the evolving needs of the construction sector by integrating sustainable construction practices, green building principles, digital technologies, and industry-led approaches into training programmes. It also seeks to strengthen links between education and employers, ensuring that skills development remains responsive to labour market needs while promoting greater diversity and inclusion within the sector.

In June 2025, the British Council supported a study visit by the Devon & Cornwall Training Providers Network to Morocco, where the delegation met with IFMBTP in Fès to advance the partnership and explore opportunities for future collaboration. The programme brought together UK and Moroccan educators, institutional leaders and industry representatives to exchange expertise on sustainable construction, digital innovation, green building and inclusive approaches to TVET. Participants visited IFMBTP's training facilities, shared good practice in curriculum design and training delivery, and discussed opportunities for continued collaboration between the two institutions. The visit also provided an opportunity to engage with regional stakeholders and reinforce the importance of partnerships in addressing the construction sector's future workforce needs.

As Morocco continues to advance its sustainable development ambitions and prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, demand for a skilled workforce capable of delivering sustainable, resilient and high-quality infrastructure is increasing. Through international collaboration, knowledge exchange and institutional partnerships, the British Council is supporting efforts to strengthen Morocco's TVET ecosystem and equip learners and educators with the skills needed to contribute to a more sustainable construction sector.
