Helen Gambold, Deputy Teaching Centre Manager, Rabat
Helen Gambold has 19 years’ experience in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) sector. Her experience spans teaching young learners and adults, teacher training, academic management and business development in Europe, Central America, South East Asia and the Middle East.
17 out of those 19 years have been spent at the British Council and during that time Helen has worked on a number of significant projects such as teacher capacity building in the Palestinian Territories. Helen is particularly interested in the professional development of teachers and sees this as an important aspect of the work we engage in. In fact, how teachers work within the organization is of special interest to Helen and featured in her research conducted on organizational fit as part of an MBA programme.
Helen says, “We offer our teachers numerous training options from; regular face to face in-service training sessions, online courses and tailored study pathways to attendance at international education conferences and support for higher professional qualifications at Master’s level. We also ensure that our teachers learn from each other through regular peer observation and collaboration on academic project activity. This is a vital aspect of our quality assurance.”
